Gardening ActivityAnother play idea for children's imaginative and creative play to develop is a gardening activity. Children are being given the responsibility to handle gardening tools such as a trowel and a gardening fork so that they can plant seeds, water the plants and tuck the soil back into to open hole. This provides many learning opportunities for children as they can learn about the importance of planting, develop this physicality and learn about what foods are grown. Children's fine-motor skills are enhanced within this activity because they develop their grasps in order to control objects. Their gross-motor skills are also developed because they use their large muscle groups to enable movement for the activity.

PaintsiclesPaintsicles; the children can partake in this fun creative activity that allows them to express their creativity. You can create these paintsicles by putting different colour paint into an ice cube tray and then sticking a lollipop stick in it so that they can use this as a handle, then leave these to set over night. Once these have set overnight you can pop them out of the ice cube tray, and they are ready to be used. The children can paint with these on a range of different surfaces such as paper, mirrors or windows. The children can use this activity to develop their pincer grasp by holding on to the lollipop stick. The children can paint with these as well as learning what happens when it becomes to melt. Once they start to melt the children can turn this activity into a sensory activity by feeling the frozen and melted paint.
