Imaginary Felt WorldThis activity can be for older children to create their own felt characters alongside a background and then do role play and create stories with their characters they have made. For example they could make a vets and place the different characters onto the felt as to where they belong. An idea of this could be a dog on the table with the vet stood at the table examining the animal. This is a good activity as it allows the children to use their imagination and create any scenario and character they choose.

Sock PuppetsAnother activity that could be used is sock puppets. For this activity children can use old socks, googly eyes, wool and any other material to make their own puppet out of a sock. Once they have done this they can create different shows with them like going to space or meeting monsters. They can do this at home with parents and they can also make it more fun by more people making sock puppets and joining in. They could also have sock puppets on both hands.

Food For AntsFood for ants is another activity that you and your children could participate in. This allows the children to be outside in the fresh air whilst also learning about nature and how to explore. During this activity both you and your child would go outside to a nearby area and take a variety of foods with you such as: salt, sugar or honey. With this food you would then place It on the ground and both you and your child will become 'scientists'! The children can then use magnifying glasses to look at the food and identify any animals that have eaten the food. By doing this activity it allows the children to use their imagination and get into the role of a scientist.

Milk ArtThis is another activity that could be carried out with your child during this time period of home schooling. This activity requires you to place a bowl of milk on a hard surface and put in a few drops of different food colours right in the center. Then, add a small amount of liquid soap right on them and watch them swirl around in various shades. Let your child experiment by putting the drops in different locations of the bowl. This encourages children to learn about how different molecules react with each other but it also allows them to experiment with different painting patterns.
